Abstract

This qualitative research was carried out under the question of what was the historical memory of the Cinquantenaire neighborhood? Before this question was decided to raise a journalistic investigation that gave account of the history of this district, that evidenced what or what they were the causes of that this district until the moment, did not have history that counted of its beginnings, and in addition a question was made that questioned the contribution of the exercise of communication and journalism, which was the problem question used for the development of this project: Can citizen journalism contribute to the rescue of the historical memory of Neighborhood Cincuentenario of the municipality of Cerrito, Valle del Cauca? The importance of this research from journalism and communication is significant, since it was demonstrated that through this field of action can be built content that contribute to the improvement of a specific context or community. It should be remembered that with the completion of this journalistic work the neighborhood community Cincuentenario will have a document that accounts for their memories and stories, understood this can be taken for granted that citizen journalism can contribute to the construction of historical memory of this neighborhood . In this journalistic investigation you will find a story made chronologically from the birth of the idea of ​​building the neighborhood Cinquantenaire, to the present, told through the testimonies of the oldest characters in the neighborhood and have had more relationship with it. You will learn about the customs and traditions of this neighborhood, the construction of its important buildings and also the change that over the years has been presented in this place.
