Prietitud y resistencia: transformación de la identidad a partir del cabello afro en las participantes de la escuela política entre mujeres prietas

Abstract

This research work was carried out around the processes of self-recognition and identity based on Afro hair and the break with the Euro-centered beauty canon that six participants from the Entre Mujeres Prietas Political School of the Prietitud Institute have had within the social work program in Unicatolica Cali. This study proposed qualitative research combined with the biographical method and using techniques such as semi-structured interviews and body cartographies. As one of the main results, it was found that the processes carried out at the School help black women to rediscover their roots and appropriate their true identity.
