Abstract

This thesis discusses the possible damages that could affect the mental health and emotional life in a group of people with problems of alcohol consumption or alcoholism. This research was carried out in a therapy group of alcoholics anonymous from the city of Cali, a group for which three methods were developed for collecting information (surveys, in-depth interviews and life stories). Here, several investigations about alcohol consumption are exposed with different perspectives, such as, public health, social and clinical health. Information that supports the findings and conclusions that are found at the end of the document, and that are also complemented by the experience and/or situations shared through the techniques developed by those who are part of the group, and those who anonymously wanted to contribute with this research. The elements that we propose on this paper arise from the approach with the before-mentioned group, that are essential for the analysis of the research objective which allow us to visualize and reflect on the risks that excessive alcohol consumption represents at an early age, the possibility of acquiring other types of addictions and also the influence that this might have in the family, social and cultural backgrounds
