“No estamos enfermos” Experiencia de un hombre trans durante el proceso de transición

Abstract

Transsexuality describes the person who feels discomfort or disagreement with his or her body, because she considers that she is in a body that is not hers; For this reason it goes to a process of hormonización and, sometimes, to a surgical intervention with the desire to change the traits with which it does not feel conform. This research deals with the experience of Matheo, a transsexual man, and through categories such as gender, identity, self-fulfillment, and determination, it is understood how a man's transition process is. The research is a case study with a 21-year-old transgender man, belonging to the socioeconomic 3 stratum and resident in Cali. A semi-structured interview took place in six sessions and among the main findings was found that the biggest obstacle for Matheo was not to make the decision to move but to survive a context of violence and discrimination.
