Significación del embarazo adolescente en cuatro mujeres de la ciudad de Cali

Abstract

For years, pregnancy allowed women within a historical context to obtain a role, associated with the function of bringing children into the world and forming the family together with men, which for years established a traditional model for the female gender. However, this canonical idea about the family over the years has remained in the past, since pregnancy has found new meanings and its appearance in the early stages of a woman's life, hence the increase in pregnancies during pregnancy. adolescence and the way women have meant this experience becomes the general objective of this research, which seeks to understand how the experience of pregnancy means four adolescent women from the city of Cali, inhabitants of the commune 20 and participants of the projects of the Human Ecology Foundation of the Siloé neighborhood, who through group approaches and a semi-structured interview allowed the researchers to develop the respective case studies presented here from a natural context. As part of the results, it was recognized that adolescents mean pregnancy as an experience associated with the first years of their childhood, where they experienced the role of caring for their younger siblings or close relatives, encouraging the meaning of the family, as well as in the desire to have a child, which gave rise to an identification that the adolescent as part of a process of formation, is recognized as a mother, assuming the desire and materializing it by becoming pregnant at an early age of adolescence. Likewise, this significance is associated with the way in which the relationship with female figures is experienced and even with the mother herself, the role that the latter assumed in the first years and the care she provided generating a prototype and an identity in front of the figure of woman and mother. However, changing the significance that adolescents have given to the concept of pregnancy in recent years allows us to rethink the condition of a mother, the condition of a woman and, moreover, the possibility of generating in the young women new signifiers where the project is included. of life and personal fulfillment, among other facets that produce premature pregnancy are not carried out by the care that the new member of the household requires especially during the first years.
