Abstract

Currently, the labor market is characterized by a low employment rate, informality and a high unemployment rate, making new forms of work such as technological applications (from now on apps) attractive to different segments of the economy. population. These apps create a new relationship between the user, the worker and the commercial businesses, but what is the relationship between the workers and the employers like? What are the strengths and weaknesses of doing this job? the technology that enables interactions between different interest groups thanks to algorithms supposes a new context for forms of work, which are no longer "standard" or "typical jobs" and have been significantly incorporated into society, thanks to their acceptance. Worldwide. However, there are questions about what a non-standard work modality through apps represents for workers. That is why the present study aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of work with home apps in the city of Cali. For this, the research was carried out through a mixed approach, the quantitative was evaluated by means of the survey and the qualitative with the interview, the non-probabilistic sampling and the snowball technique were those that allowed to achieve the research that is characterized by being of exploratory and descriptive type. Main findings: In terms of strengths, the following are evident: Schedule flexibility, income flexibility and autonomy. In terms of weaknesses, the following are evident: Safety environment at work, job evaluation and benefits by the employer.
