Diseño y construcción de un sistema de conteo de espacios disponibles en el parqueadero de la Fundación Universitaria Católica Lumen Gentium

Abstract

Currently, there is a problem that is presented in the Lumen Gentium Catholic University Foundation, UNICATOLICA, which refers to the parking area, where people with vehicles gather at the entrance of the university waiting for a parking space without knowing the availability from space. Sometimes, the university community risks leaving their vehicle outside the parking area of the university, exposed to damage, theft and even retention of the vehicle by traffic guards. Therefore, it is proposed to evaluate if the parking spaces have the correct dimensions of a vehicle and then plan to design and build a vehicle counting system, which will determine the number of available spaces available to the university and using a screen where the number of these spaces will be shown to the university community. In addition, the data of vehicle arrivals and departures will be stored in this system to later analyze the flow of vehicles and in perspective to think about possible solutions to this problem and thus propose different preventive actions as presented by other universities such as, for example, peak and university plaque, promote the use of the shared vehicle, the public service or other alternatives more favorable to the environment. To develop the project, many aspects that had great influence were taken into account, such as; the materials, their complexity and their design. In order to demonstrate the correct functioning of the project, field tests were developed in which some data obtained by the system could be analyzed, thus identifying the priority variables for the foundation of the work
