Informe final de investigación: Impacto curricular del área de inglés en el desempeño académico de los estudiantes de Unicatólica

Abstract

This is a descriptive research that operates with both quantitative and qualitative data and seeks to determine the actual impact on students of the curriculum in the Foreign Language Division of the Communication and Language Department at Fundación Universitaria Católica Lumen Gentium - Unicatólica from the term 2012-B through 2015-B. In order to carry out this, empiric methods to collect all the findings were used: class observation, a grid to analyze the curriculum, and descriptive statistics to analyze the results. These methods allowed to describe and compare the results in the English final exams from the term 2012-B until 2015-B at Unicatólica, analyze and compare the results in Saber Pro exams in 2014 and 2015 in the English component, and analyze the results of the class observations developed as part of the Monitoring and Curriculum Evaluation Project of the Foreign Language Division of the Communication and Language Department. As a result of the implemented methods, the object of study is characterized and further intervention actions for the common benefit are suggested.
